What hotel luggage tracking means
In a hotel luggage room, tracking often means knowing which record belongs to the physical tag, where staff placed the bags and whether the handover remains stored, partially collected or completed. It does not necessarily mean live GPS, RFID or barcode tracking.
Tag-number tracking
The physical luggage tag remains an important point of reference. Entering that number in the digital register lets staff search for the correct record instead of reading through each page of a paper log.
Internal location tracking
Recording a zone, shelf or other hotel-defined location gives staff an instruction they can act on. Consistent location names help colleagues retrieve luggage even when they did not create the original record.
Additional identification
Colour, concise notes and an optional photograph can help distinguish similar bags. The app should still work when the hotel chooses not to take a photo, and any photos should follow an appropriate retention policy.
Collection status and history
Tracking continues until the luggage is returned. Full and partial collection records help the hotel understand whether any items remain. Local history provides a reference for later operational checks.
How Lugexa handles tracking today
Lugexa currently uses manual tag numbers and recorded internal locations. It does not use GPS, cloud sync, guest-facing live tracking, QR scanning, RFID or PMS integrations. Those capabilities should not be inferred from the word “tracking”.
